If you missed the Luca Todesco 10.1.1 jailbreak, then there’s potentially some good news – an iOS 10.2 jailbreak tool for Apple’s current version of iOS, could be released soon.
After months of speculation and disappointment, iOS 10 has finally received a working jailbreak tool in the form of Luca Todesco’s iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak. However, it wasn’t quite the slick, no-nonsense jailbreak many were hoping for, requiring a leap of faith to upgrade to iOS 10.1.1 for users of the previous 9.3.3 jailbreak by Pangu back in the summer.
It was also semi-untethered, requiring you to re-jailbreak every time your device was restarted, but most importantly, it was quite unstable at release too, being a beta version. Many missed the window to get on to iOS 10.1.1, while others decided to stay put on their 9.3.3 Pangu jailbreak, which has served many well for the last few months.
Thankfully, though, it appears someone is at work on an iOS 10.2 jailbreak, which could offer anyone that missed or refused to upgrade to Luca Todesco’s effort last week a lifeline. Stefan Esser (@i0n1c), who’s known for his previous work on the jailbreaking scene, has stated that an iOS 10.2 jailbreak ‘is about to hit soon’.
In the tweet, Esser states that the issues faced by jailbreakers in dealing with the Luca Todesco jailbreak shouldn’t worry anyone as another team was looking to release a tool for the current iOS 10.2. The former version – iOS 10.1.1, which was compatible with the jailbreak, is no longer being signed by Apple, so it’s now not possible to upgrade or downgrade to that version – something that caught many out last week.No tags for this post.
